2027: Renewed Hope Movement Endorses Tinubu for Second Term, Cites Reforms , Youth Empowerment Driv

The Renewed Hope Grassroots Movement has formally endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term in office, expressing confidence in his administration’s structural reforms and policy initiatives aimed at repositioning Nigeria for sustainable growth.

At a World Press Conference, the National Coordinator of the Movement, Ambassador Isaac Chigozie Udeh, described the endorsement as a major milestone in the group’s nationwide mobilization efforts ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Ambassador Udeh said the Movement was established to galvanize grassroots support for President Tinubu, promote civic responsibility, and ensure that government policies and achievements are effectively communicated to rural and underserved communities across the country.

Highlighting key reforms introduced since May 29, 2023, he pointed to the removal of fuel subsidy and the unification of the foreign exchange system as decisive steps taken to eliminate structural distortions, restore fiscal discipline, and rebuild investor confidence.

According to him, although the reforms posed short-term challenges, they have contributed to improved macroeconomic stability, reduced fiscal pressures, and strengthened foreign exchange reserves.

On fiscal management, Udeh referenced a reported reduction in debt service obligations and the repayment of Nigeria’s $4.61 billion debt to the International Monetary Fund, describing it as a move that enhanced the country’s global financial credibility.

He also cited youth-focused initiatives, including skills development programmes, enterprise support schemes for micro, small and medium enterprises, and empowerment initiatives designed to stimulate job creation.

In the education sector, he highlighted the Nigerian Education Loan Fund, expanded scholarship programmes, and school feeding initiatives as measures aimed at strengthening human capital development.

The Movement further listed the approval of a new national minimum wage, expanded nano-grant schemes, and livelihood support programmes as part of efforts to cushion economic pressures on vulnerable citizens.

On infrastructure and agriculture, Udeh noted ongoing road construction projects, improved port operations, agricultural mechanisation efforts, and the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway project as strategic investments to boost connectivity, trade, food security, and long-term economic growth.

He described the administration’s tax reform policy as a strategy to simplify the tax system, widen the tax base, block revenue leakages, and create a more business-friendly environment without placing undue burden on small businesses.

While acknowledging transitional difficulties associated with reform processes, the Renewed Hope Grassroots Movement passed a vote of confidence on President Tinubu, commending what it described as courageous and visionary leadership.

Following consultations across its structures, the group declared full support for President Tinubu’s re-election and the victory of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections.

Ambassador Udeh said the Movement has also deployed digital platforms to enable nationwide and diaspora registration, coordination, and real-time mobilization in line with party guidelines.

He urged Nigerians who support the Renewed Hope Agenda to register through the Movement’s official platform and participate actively in the democratic process, emphasizing that unity and sustained civic engagement remain critical to consolidating ongoing reforms.

In his remarks, the National Youth Leader of the Movement, Dr. Uko Udo Nna, reaffirmed the youth wing’s commitment to President Tinubu’s re-election, describing the group as one of the largest presidential support movements in Nigeria and across Africa.

Dr. Nna commended the leadership of Ambassador Chibuike Nweze and Ahmed Olakunle, whom he described as visionary and results-driven, and assured members that the youth wing remains united in promoting policies that drive economic recovery and inclusive growth.

Similarly, the Deputy National Women Leader, Fatima Yahaya Emilugi, praised the administration’s focus on youth empowerment and inclusive governance.

She highlighted postgraduate support initiatives, youth entrepreneurship programmes, green enterprise support schemes, and tax relief measures for small businesses and low-income earners as policies creating tangible opportunities for young Nigerians.

Emilugi reaffirmed the commitment of the women and youth wing to grassroots mobilization, noting that young Nigerians constitute a significant portion of the voting population.

She concluded with a vote of confidence in President Tinubu, expressing optimism that sustained mobilization efforts would translate into electoral success in 2027 and continued national development.
