… Urge Them To Remain Active After Retirement Worried by some of the challenges faced by retirees during the transition from active service to retirement,  the Ministry of Regional Development has appealed to retirees to remain active in whatever way they can after retirement. The Permanent Secretary, Dr Mary Ada Ogbe, who made the appeal during her remarks at the retirement celebration held for 24 retirees, said the Federal Government and the Ministry appreciate the retirees’ contributions to Nigeria’s development, particularly the time, dedication, and achievements they devoted to the service, and prayed that God would reward them abundantly. FG has inaugurated a ten-member Independent Investigative Committee, constituted on the directive of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to investigate the circumstances surrounding the deaths of 37 people in Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) custody in Niger State, and to recommend measures to prevent a recurrence. The Managing Director of the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF), Mr  Oluwaseun Faleye, has said the Fund has moved decisively from manual, top-heavy operations to a more digital, efficient and accountable institution in the last two years. The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) is currently rehabilitating four towers vandalized along the Afam-IPP-Elelenwo 132kV Double-Circuit Transmission Line. The incident was discovered on August 6, 2026, by the company's lines engineers from the Port Harcourt Region.  Towers T50 to T53 were affected, with their tower members removed and carted away. This is the fifth vandalism attack on the same line in recent times. As rehabilitation work progresses, we enjoin all stakeholders to join hands to curb the menace that is threatening the stability of the national grid. The Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology, Dr. Mukhtar Yawale Muhammad, has pledged stronger support for the Energy Commission of Nigeria (ECN) following the installation of a 0.5-megawatt solar hybrid power system that has taken the commission completely off the national grid. Dr. Muhammad gave the assurance during a familiarisation visit to the ECN as part of his tour of agencies under the Federal Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology.
